Walk into almost any modern office or school and you'll see the same thing on the windows: roller shades. Here's why commercial buildings choose what they do, and what to think about for your project.

Roller and solar shades

Roller shades are the most common commercial window treatment by far. They're clean-looking, durable, easy to clean, and they work on almost any window size. Solar shade fabrics cut glare on computer screens while keeping the view outside.

Blackout shades

Classrooms, training rooms, and conference rooms with projectors usually need blackout shades. Side channels can be added to block the light gaps along the edges.

Dual shades

Many offices use dual shades: a solar shade for daytime glare and a blackout shade on the same bracket for presentations. One window, two levels of light control.

Motorized shades

For tall windows, large glass walls, and buildings with control systems, motorized shades let staff raise and lower whole banks of shades at once, or put them on a schedule.
