Projection screen questions we get asked
What is the difference between a fixed frame and a motorized projection screen?
A fixed frame screen stays permanently in place and gives you the flattest, most consistent surface, which is ideal for a dedicated home theater. A motorized screen retracts into a housing when it is not in use, so the room can serve another purpose. Motorized screens are the usual choice for conference rooms, multipurpose spaces, and living rooms where you do not want a screen on the wall all the time.
Can a projection screen be recessed into the ceiling?
Yes. Draper makes in-ceiling housings that install above the finished ceiling line, so only a slim closure panel is visible when the screen is up. This needs to be coordinated with the ceiling framing, so it is best planned before drywall goes in, though retrofits are often possible.
What screen size do I need?
Screen size depends on your throw distance, your projector, the seating distance, and the ambient light in the room. We measure the space and match the screen size, aspect ratio, and gain to your projector rather than guessing from a chart.
Do you install projection screens in commercial buildings?
Yes. We install in conference rooms, boardrooms, churches, classrooms, training rooms, and similar commercial spaces throughout Central Ohio, and we can quote from plans or specifications for projects under construction.
Do you also install the projector?
We specialize in the screen itself, including the housing, mounting, and low voltage control integration for motorized models. For projector supply and calibration we work alongside your AV integrator, or we can coordinate with one.
